Paul Smith qualified from University of Liverpool in 2005 with Honours. He then completed his vocational training year in 2006 at a dental practice in Southport and worked there for 4 and half years as an associate. He completed an advanced course in restorative dentistry in 2009 and completed his Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011. He completed the Simply excellence year course in implantology in 2012.
He became a partner of The Village Dental Practice in January 2011 just a month after his daughter Sophie was born who is now 2 years old. It’s therefore been a busy life changing 2 years but fantastic too. In his free time (when he gets it!) he trains to compete in triathlons and swims regularly. His wife Sarah does occasionally see him!
Dermot Staunton qualified from Liverpool University in December 1983. Following a six month post as a house officer at the Royal Liverpool Hospital he started at the Village Dental Practice in July 1984. Initially part time with another practice in Wigan. He became a full time partner in 1992.
In 2006 he completed a one year oral implantology course under Professor Ucer at the Telford General Hospital in Manchester.
Married to Sue, they have three teenage children. He therefore doesn’t play as much golf or have as much hair as he would like!!!
Nichola joined the Village Dental Practice in 2004 she qualified as a dental hygienist and therapist from the Royal London Hospital Dental Auxiliary School in 1992.
Nichola has worked as a dental hygienist in a variety of dental practices and hospital dental units. During this time she has taken time out to travel and have a family.
Amy is our dually qualified dental hygienist/therapist and started working at the village practice in February 2012.
Previous to this she worked as a dental nurse and oral health educator in both a family run NHS/private practice and also for the special care dentistry department within Lancashire teaching hospitals so She has a special interest in treating children, people with special needs and nervous patients.
She has a great interest in textiles and she has completed a degree in textile innovations specialising in surface pattern design. She is a keen animal lover and owns some chickens and tortoises amongst others!!
Karen commenced her dental career in 1976 as a dental nurse and qualified in 1978.
She has been at the Village Dental Practice for 24 years working as one of our receptionists.
Helen joined the practice in 1998 after qualifying as a Dental Nurse at Royal Liverpool University Dental hospital. After having her son Alex, she returned to the team progressing to the role of Practice Manager, maintaining all current legislation, policies and protocols whilst overseeing the day to day running of the Practice to its high standard.
Christine has worked as a dental nurse and receptionist for 37 years, with a short break when she had her son James in 1987. She has been part of the team at the Village Dental Practice for 23 of those years working as a receptionist.
She is registered as a dental care professional. Christine is the CQC lead within the practice.
Becky has worked as a dental nurse for 8 years. She qualified in 2007, and then took a year out to teach English in Africa. In 2008 she joined the team at the Village Dental Practice, she is now working as Mr Smith’s nurse. Becky is the decontamination lead within the practice.
Cheryl has been with the practice since July 2012. She has been a dental nurse since 1982 and is now working as Mr Staunton’s nurse.
Cheryl is registered as a dental care professional.
Genna joined the practice in 2006 after qualifying in 2005. She worked as Mr Staunton’s nurse until having her first daughter Annabelle in March 2011.
She returned back to the Village Dental Practice in January 2012 and currently works both in surgery and reception.
Debs has worked as a dental nurse since leaving school and in between having her 2 children Jack and Lucy . She returned to dentistry by joining the practice in 2011 and subsequently passed her ‘City and Guilds Dental Nurse Diploma’ in 2012. Debs currently works alongside our hygienists and therapist
